Watch out!

Hello to all,

I will start off this week by introducing you to my new friends that went on a long holiday (hibernation) and they are now well rested and all over the course enjoying the great outdoors. People, please be careful in the long grass - rather give one ball to the course on a hot day than risking a bite for a mere point. Take a ring and avoid the sting!

The last week we have been busy with some poa (winter grass) tests, we have two test blocks on the 15th approach and the 16th pro tee will be our other test area. The reason for the tests is to try and find a solution to control the invading Poa grass. This will be an ongoing test and I am hoping that we will see results soon. The picture below shows the test block on the 15th approach.

We were also busy getting the course mapped last week to get exact sizes of all our greens, tees, fairways and bunkers. This is information that will be well used when applying fertiliser, herbicides, fungicides... with this information we can determine what each application will cost us when planning your yearly applications. In the picture alongside we see Graham Bettesworth from Nutri-Ag with a handheld GPS system that will give us the final results in a neat map of the whole course.

The project we are busy with this week is a drainage system on the first landing area. This is all part of the final objective to have our 1st hole looking spectacular as an opening hole should look. Roland Peacock is leading this project after a long break from Disney world; let’s hope we don’t find any construction of roller coasters on the first after his amazing experience in the US. Welcome back Roland.

That’s all from me for this week, happy golfing.
