Much accomplished this month...

This past week we got a lot accomplished on the course. All the greens were hollowtined; then we hollowtined the tees and we also reseeded all the small bare areas on the fairways while we were at it. The correct fertilizers were put down on the greens and tees and the next step will be the fairways.

We are busy with some drainage in the 7th bunker and are also busy sorting out the sump pumps on the 11th and 3rd next to the greens.

The situation regarding the wet areas on the course is still a concern, but it is drying out well and we should be back to normal within the next two weeks.

The 12th fairway, at this stage, is one of the holes on the course that requires big repair and maintenance, with blocked drainage and a burst water pipe.

The verges on the estate were sprayed for broadleaf weeds. There are more areas left to be done soon when the weather permits us to go on.

We also had some good sightings on the course the last couple of days, first Roland saw some honey badgers and a week later a big Lynx roaming around in the grass at the back of the maintenance facility. This is part of what makes the Links so special; there are such vast areas on the estate. This gives animals the opportunity to go on with their natural activities without being disturbed by any human activities.

Charl
